NEW YOUTH RECREATION HUB FOSTERS OUTDOOR CONNECTIONS

15 July 2025

Residents and young people around Laverton North can now enjoy newly upgraded outdoor spaces thanks to investment from the Victorian Government and the Wyndham City Council.

Member for Laverton Sarah Connolly and representatives from the Wyndham City Council attended the opening of the newly completed Lawrie Emmins Reserve Youth and Skate Facility.

The completion of the project follows $1.5 million investment from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund and $2.21 million from Wyndham City Council – which is a total of $3.71 million investment in this critical project.

Serving as a gateway into the wider Lawrie Emmins Reserve, the facility features a skate park, outdoor courts, barbeque and picnic facilities, grassed areas, car parking, public toilets and other amenities.

The project supports intergenerational community connections and encourages healthy habits through alternative forms of active recreation and exercise.

It also expands on wider developments for the reserve which services the growing suburbs of Williams Landing, Laverton North and Truganina.

Over its lifetime, the Growing Suburbs Fund has supported 370 projects, representing a total infrastructure investment of $1.3 billion and the creation of more than 11,300 jobs.

Since 2015, Wyndham City Council has received over $46 million through the Fund to deliver 32 projects that support local community services and connections, help communities thrive and adapt to change.
